So, being the dutiful new (been working at Rumors for a month now… hi! I’m Ho-Mui.) intern, I went to support Holly at Fan Letter last night at The Cooper Union. It was delightful.

Goodbye Zack

We wish our summer intern Zack Seuberling best of luck with future endeavors. Zack, we’ve learned a lot from you, and we hoped you’ve learned something from us.

Among Zack’s Words of Wit and Wisdom:
“Rule #1: Stay Positive”—truer now than ever.
“Hot dogs certainly aren’t for everybody”—fact, not fiction.
“No blood, no foul— that’s all you need to know to play street ball”—no explanation necessary.

A toast to you, Zack, the man, the legend. We may have forced you to blog and join Twitter, but as you put it yesterday, “who knew after three months in New York I’d been eating dinner with Karel Martens and singing karaoke with Project Projects?” Future interns, you’ve got some pretty big shoes to fill.

Commercial Type blurb in Print magazine

James Gaddy wrote a nice little piece about the website we’ve been working on for Commercial Type In the October issue of Print. Sneak preview of the site below!

Illustration in the New York Times magazine

We were so excited to contribute to this past Sunday’s New York Times magazine, an article by Clive Thompson that provides “a look inside the emerging science of social contagion.” Other designers / illustrators / artists who did an amazing job: Carin Goldberg, Julia Hasting, CatalogTree, Nomoco, Julia Hasting, and Shout. The cover typography was created by Chester Jenkins.

Sorry about last time

I forgot to introduce myself. I am Zack, the Rumors intern. I came from Ohio and now I live here.

Yesterday, in a heat induced rage, Renda broke the basketball hoop. (Sorry to break it to you this way, Andy). We have a passive aggressive note wall for a reason, but I guess she just couldn’t take it anymore.

Update: Renda’s official statement is that she broke it trying to save the planet. I just report the facts, people; you decide.

I’m freezing here

There were a lot of expectations for this inaugural post; I have to be funny and smart, right? I might get fired if it isn’t.

Note of interest: Rumors has fake fired me at least 3 times—once for not winning a single hand in poker (as if the shame weren’t enough). They later rehired me when I returned with potato chips. Then I dealt Andy four aces. Fire THAT.

Anyway, it’s not actually freezing right now. It’s after hours and the air conditioner is off. I don’t want to rack up a huge electric bill (and then get fired).

New Identity for Lift

We worked together with Rob Giampietro on a new identity for Lift. Previously known as National Student Partnerships, Lift is a national non-profit that connects college students with communities in need to combat poverty on an individual level.
